Pentax OPTIO M50 review
The user-friendly OptioM50 features 8.0 effective megapixel resolution and
a 5X optical zoom lens along with features such as Smile Capture, Face
Recognition AF & AE, 2.5-inch wide view LCD and Digital SR (Shake
Reduction). With an ultra-slim, sophisticated design, the affordable and
easy to use Optio M50 offers fun, easy digital photography to many
different users, regardless of photographic skill and experience.
8.0 megapixel CCD assures high resolution images
The 5X optical zoom lens, covering an angle of view equivalent to
approximately 36 to 180 mm in 35 mm format makes is ideal for shooting a
broad spectrum of subjects, from landscapes to portraits. Combine with the
digital zoom function (approx. 1X to 5.1X), making a maximum zoom
equivalent to 25.5X possible.
“Face Recognition AF&AE" function automatically detects and
focuses on faces, and sets the optimum exposure. Other functions such as
the “Smile Capture” function, which distinguishes smiles and
automatically takes photographs, are also available.
Auto Picture mode lets the camera automatically determine the shooting
conditions and chooses the optimum settings for Landscape, Portrait, Night
Scene and Normal modes as well as Flower and Sports modes.
Digital SR (Shake Reduction) mode reduces the effect of camera shake and
blurring of the subject when photographing still images. The sensitivity is
adjusted automatically, to as high as the ultrahigh sensitivity of ISO
6400, to match the brightness of the subjects.
2.5 inch, wide view (approx. 170 degrees) LCD makes capturing and reviewing
images easy
Movie recording function with shake reduction with image quality rivaling
camcorders
Mode palette provides quick access to 16 shooting modes and 15 playback

Panorama mode automatically stitches a series of three images into one wide
