Pentax Optio E80 review
The Optio E80 offers high-resolution images and easy-to-use features. With
10 megapixel resolution, this stylish compact features a 3X optical zoom
lens, high resolution widescreen HD Video, Auto Picture mode and Face
Detection technology. Even novice digital photographers will enjoy the
slim, lightweight body and the Green mode for point-and-shoot convenience.
Compatible with easy to find AA batteries and with World Time and Date
Imprint functions, the Optio E80 is an excellent travel companion.
Combining approximately 10.0 effective megapixels with the high-performance
PENTAX zoom lens, the Optio E80 delivers brilliant, high-quality images
with well-defined details.
The 3X optical zoom lens covers focal lengths from approximately 31.5mm to
94.5mm (in 35mm format). Its 31.5mm wide-angle coverage is particularly
handy when photographing spectacular landscapes, magnificent architectures
or group snapshots in a confined space.
Despite its compact size, the Optio E80 features a large, bright 2.7 inch
colour LCD with approximately 230,000 dot resolution. It allows you to
clearly review images and menus on the screen.
Capture beautiful, flawless movie clips at 16:9 high-definition TV
proportions (1280 x 720 pixels at 15 fps). Movie SR (Shake Reduction) mode
uses exclusive software to automatically compensate camera shake during
movie shooting.
Auto Picture mode lets the camera automatically determine the shooting
conditions for a total of 8 scenes (Landscape, Portrait, Night Scene, Night
Scene Portrait, Flower, Sport, Candlelight and Standard modes) and chooses
the optimum settings for each.
With simple push-button operation, the user-friendly Green mode
automatically selects the optimum combination of exposure settings, ISO
sensitivity and other factors for a given subject or scene. This mode not
only makes high-quality digital photography simple and effortless, even for
first-time digital photographers, it is also ideal for use when asking
someone else to take your picture.
ISO sensitivity up to 6400 speeds up shutter response to freeze subject
movement, providing sharp images even in very dim lighting.
All of the Optio E80’s control buttons, including the shutter release
button on the top panel, are large and easy to press. Coupled with the
large letters, numerals and icons used in the on-screen menus, this makes
using the Optio E80 easy for those with poor vision or unsteady hands.
Compatibility with easy to find AA batteries is ideal for travel, without
having to carry battery charging equipment or international power plug
adapters.
Face Detection function automatically detects the subject’s face, then
optimizes the focus and exposure settings.
Frame composite function (with 20 frames stored in the camera) allows you
to shoot or edit images using decorative photo frames.
The image recovery function allows you to recover accidentally erased
images.
World-time function keeps track of local time of 75 cities in 28 time zones
around the world.
