Pentax Optio X90 review
The X90 is the ideal bridge between compact and DSLR technology, offering
SLR performance in a compact body. Featuring a 12.1 megapixel CCD sensor,
high-magnification 26X optical zoom lens with wide-angle to super-telephoto
coverage, longer battery life and an electronic viewfinder with diopter
adjustment, this all-purpose model performs superbly and effortlessly in a
variety of photographic situations — from casual day-to-day snapshots to
travel to sweeping landscapes and sports photography.
High-magnification 26X optical zoom lens, offers focal length coverage
between 26mm wide angle to 676mm super telephoto (in the 35mm format).
Coupled with the 1cm Macro mode, which allows the capture of dramatic
close-up images of a subject from just one centimeter away, it offers
quick, effortless shooting in a wide range of photographic situations.
Combining a 12.1 megapixel sensor with the PENTAX-developed imaging engine
and high performance zoom lens, the X90 delivers high-quality images with
sharp details and faithful colour reproduction. It even allows the user to
choose the preferred finishing touch from Bright, Natural or Monochrome.
The X90 offers three Shake Reduction technologies to reduce camera shake
and blurring of the subject: Mechanical Shake Reduction via a CCD shift
mechanism, Digital Shake Reduction via high ISO, and Movie Shake Reduction
for blur-free video capture.
In addition to the Auto Exposure mode, which automatically selects the
optimal combination of aperture and shutter speed, the X90 also offers
Aperture-Priority AE, Shutter-Priority AE and Metered Manual modes to let
you express your personal style.
Effortlessly compose and playback images and video on the 2.7 inch LCD with
anti-reflection coating, or through the electronic viewfinder with diopter
adjustment.
Capture beautiful, flawless movie clips at 16:9 high-definition TV
proportions (1280 x 720 pixels) at a frame rate of 30 frames per second.
The X90 also has an HDMI micro terminal for audio/video signal output.
Advanced Fast Face Detection technology sees up to 32 faces in as little as
0.03 seconds for easy portrait photography. Smile Capture automatically
recognizes smiles and takes the picture when a smile is detected while
Blink Detection warns you if the subject blinked at the moment the shot was
taken.
PENTAX Auto Picture mode takes the guesswork out of photography by
analyzing the scene and setting the best corresponding shooting mode.
With high-speed continuous shooting at 11 FPS, the X90 makes sure you get
the winning shot.
Personalize recorded images with digital filters
D-Range setting prevents washed out highlights (overexposed) and blocked up
shadows (underexposed) in your pictures.
Large-capacity lithium-ion battery allows you to record approximately 255
pictures with a single recharge of the battery.
Eye-Fi connected: optimized for use with Eye-Fi wireless memory cards.
Media Impression 2.0 for PENTAX image viewing, editing and filing software
included (compatible with Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.6 operating systems)
