Pentax Optio S10 review
The stylish Optio S10 features 10.0 effective megapixel resolution as well
as Digital SR (Shake Reduction) and Face Recognition AF & AE in an
ultra-compact aluminum alloy design that the popular “Optio S” series
is so well known for. The Optio S10 is the seventh DivX Certified digital
camera from PENTAX, allowing photographers to create high-quality video
files that can be played back on a wide variety of DivX DVD players and
other devices. One of the smallest, lightest 10.0 megapixel digital cameras
in the world, the Optio S10 is a perfect travel companion for both business
and leisure.
With 10.0 effective megapixel resolution, the Optio S10 delivers clear and
crisp images. A large 1/1.8 inch CCD with large sensing area is used for
the image sensor, providing excellent performance for tone reproduction,
texture delineation and noise reduction.
Digital SR (Shake Reduction)
The “Face Recognition AF&AE” function recognizes faces in the
picture and selects camera settings that assure that people shots are
perfectly in focus and perfectly rendered.
The Auto Picture mode lets the camera automatically determine the shooting
conditions for Landscape, Portrait, Night Scene, and Normal modes and
chooses the optimum settings for each subject. This function makes
photography a lot easier as it eliminates the necessity of making a number
of individual settings.
The 2.5-inch LCD monitor (232,000 pixels) is a high intensity type equipped
with an LCD booster that adjusts the brightness of monitor you can easily
check the monitor, even when outdoors. With its wide viewing angle, the
monitor can be easily viewed with little change in brightness and colours,
even when looking at it diagonally.
The Optio S10 smoothly captures movies at 30 fps (frames per second) at
sizes up to 640x480 pixels with image quality rivaling camcorders. Since it
employs the DivX® (MPEG-4) movie format
