1995-2005 Alfa Romeo GTV V6 Coupe review
Alfa Romeo presents the Alfa GTV; its modern interpretation of the concept of the sports coupe: a car designed and built to give unique, inimitable driving pleasure. At its heart lies the perfect synthesis of state-of-the-art technologies, each an integral part of a refined mechanical project. Different engines designed for different uses, but all with the same extraordinary Alfa performance. Multilink rear suspension architecture. An interior designed to let you sit back comfortably and enjoy the exciting performance.
3.2 V6 24v - The bellowing 3.2L V6 24v engine delivers awesome acceleration and a spine-tingling soundtrack. Producing 176kW of power and 289Nm of torque, the 3.2 V6 24v is a pure, race-bred engine in the true Italian tradition.
For the Alfa GTV, a multilink suspension system is used at the rear to guarantee extraordinary roadholding in all driving conditions, and make a major contribution to the dynamic control of the car. At the front, an independant MacPherson system is in place, to provide a safe and smooth ride. The Alfa GTV reveals exceptional stability, worthy of a true sports car. And it performs perfectly even in the event of emergency manoeuvres (rapid steer and countersteer sequence).
The six cylinder GTV is apparentlythe fastest ever road going car to wear the Alfa badge, with a top speed of 255km/h. Down the lower end of the scale the car takes just 6.7 seconds to leap from 0-100km/h.
The 24 valve engine is in fact a slightly detuned version of the 184kW GTA power plant but is still good for 176kW and 289Nm of torque – the small difference is negligible in day to day driving. Fuel consumption is a claimed 9.3L/100km highway and 19.9L/100km around town, with a combined figure of 13.2L/100km.
