2000-2005 Kia Rio Hatch review

Kia’s new generation engine with Millennium Innovation Technologies (or MI-Tech) makes Rio fast, quiet, clean and economical to run. The 1.5 litre 16-valve engine delivers an impressive performance with 71kW @ 5,500 rpm of power and 132Nm @ 4,500 rpm of torque driving the front wheels. All via a 5-speed smooth-shifting manual gearbox, or the 4-speed intelligent automatic transmission with fluid gear changes, for stop-start city driving. But to really experience Rio, take to the open road and be surprised by Rio’s agile handling, stability and the way it hugs the road. The simple, lightweight design of the supremely quiet front suspension ensures confident handling and good cornering. While the sturdy, rear suspension delivers a sporty, comfortable ride.
