Sony SAL552002 review
Sony’s SAL552002 55-200mm F4-5.6 SAM Telephoto Zoom Lens for ?™
(alpha) Digital SLR Cameras.
Compact and lightweight with 3.6x zoom - The DT 55-200mm F4.5-5.6 SAM is a
3.6x (approx.) telephoto zoom lens designed specifically for use with ?
DSLRs that have an APS-C type sensor. It is exceptionally light and
compact, with a weight of only 305g and dimensions of 71.5mm (max.
diameter) x 85mm (length) that make it very easy to handle and carry.
High telephoto power 55-200mm zoom - Wide-ranging 55-200mm zoom coverage
(35mm-format equivalent: 82.5-300mm) enables this lens to be used for
portraits and landscapes, as well as dramatic telephoto close-ups of sports
action, wildlife, and other subjects that are hard to get close to.
ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass element for superior imaging with minimal
colour aberration - An ED glass element is incorporated into the lens
optics to assure clear, sharp imaging, with reduced colour aberration even
at high-power telephoto settings. In addition, a circular aperture
mechanism is used to assure smoother, more beautiful background defocusing.
Newly-developed Smooth Autofocus Motor (SAM) for smooth AF operation - The
DT 55-200mm F4.5-5.6 SAM’s focusing lens group is driven by a new
Smooth Autofocus Motor (SAM) in the lens itself, instead of a motor in the
camera body. Responding instantly to AF drive control signals from the
camera, the motor delivers power with smoothness and precision.
0.95m minimum focusing distance, 0.29 maximum magnification ratio - With a
class-leading minimum focusing distance of just 0.95 meters and a maximum
magnification ratio of 0.29, the DT 55-200mm F4.5-5.6 SAM can also be used
to take macro close-ups.
