The Nissan Pathfinder gives you driveability and handling rarely before seen in a four-wheel drive. The sophisticated ALL MODE 4x4 is the reason why. Through a switch on the dashboard, you can choose the perfect driving system for any road condition. Originally developed for the awesome Skyline GT-R that took Australian motor sport by storm, Nissan's ALL MODE 4x4 made its off-road debut in the award winning Pathfinder.
The NRMA Motoring and Services (one of Australia's largest and most respected motor vehicle insurers) latest running cost research shows the Nissan Pathfinder Ti is the most economical 4WD compared to other makes tested, coming ahead of five other medium 4WDs including the Mitsubishi Pajero and Toyota Prado.
3.3 litre SOHC Alloy-head 12 valve V6 - Powerful and responsive 3.3 litre VG33E petrol engine with sequential muti-point fuel injection provides an outstanding 125 kW, while torque is an impressive 266 Nm. The Pathfinder's superb engine is designed to deliver its power where it's needed most- so 90% of its torque is available at 1500 rpm. The engine even 'talks' to the automatic transmission computer to optimise gear changes and reduce any shift shock. To enhance driving pleasure, sequential multi-point fuel injection delivers a responsive and exhilarating driving experience without sacrificing fuel economy.
ALL MODE 4x4 - At the turn of a switch you can choose the best setting for any situation. Select 2WD for normal road travel and you'll receive the best fuel economy possible. When you go off-road, simply turn the switch to 4WD high... if you get to something really tough, switch to 4WD low. It's that easy.If you'd like it even easier, just switch it to AUTO and the Pathfinder will automatically choose the optimum driving mode itself! Nissan's ALL MODE 4x4 system activates the Electronically Controlled Coupling to deliver the required torque to the front wheels not only when it detects slippery conditions but also when it anticipates a loss of traction when accelerating or on start-up. This is the ALL MODE 4x4 advantage - it ensures stable performance at all times even in mud, gravel and on slippery slopes.
Limited Slip Differential (LSD) - Automatically limits differences in rear wheel speed by ensuring that power is split equally between the two rear wheels. The result - Superior traction in tough conditions, as well as greater directional stability in hard cornering or on slippery road surfaces.
