2008-2012 Ferrari California review
Ferrari California symbolises technical innovation, superior craftsmanship, faultless sophistication, and thoroughbred performance, taking its inspiration from the spirit and emotions of one of the great Ferraris of the past; the 250 California of 1957. New California joins the range as Ferrari's first mid-front engine, 8-cylinder Grand Tourer, and is available exclusively as a convertible with a retractable folding hard top.
In line with Ferrari tradition, California has multiple technological innovations and leading-edge-solutions. In addition to its retractable hard top (which opens and closes in just 14 seconds), California offers: 2+ seating with a rear bench equipped for up to two passengers; a new direct injection V8 engine; dual clutch 7-speed gearbox with steering wheel-mounted F1-style paddles; a new suspension system; the new evolved F1-Trac traction control system and Carbon Ceramic brakes. California respects the Ferrari principle of providing breathtaking driving pleasure and fun behind the wheel in all conditions and for all driving styles, but adapts this for everyday use with controllable sportiness.
California is as suitable for inner-city driving as it is for longer journeys or sporty driving – in essence, a car versatile enough for work and pleasure. Torque and power are distributed in optimum fashion to maximise drivability and driving enjoyment, even under the most demanding conditions. California combines classic and contemporary design, with state-of-the-art aerodynamics. California's muscular, flowing, sculpted lines are the product of Ferrari's long-term collaboration with Italian design house Pininfarina. The interior showcases bespoke craftsmanship, with the inimitable feel and aroma of the finest Poltrona Frau leather.
