Echo is a car designed without compromise - that contradicts itself at almost every turn. European design with Japanese technology, fuel-efficient yet powerful engines, compact on the outside, yet spacious within, Echo brings technology to life.
The 1.3L engine delivers the power of most 1.5L engines, whilst giving favourable fuel economy. The Echo Hatchback delivers maximum power of 63kW @ 6000 rpm and maximum torque of 122 Nm @ 4400 rpm. Efficient fuel consumption sees it deliver 5.8L/100kms for manual transmission and 6.4L/100kms for automatic transmission based on ADR81/01 combined fuel consumption test. Front ventilated disc brakes and rear drum brakes are standard.
Variable Valve Timing - intelligent (VVT-i) uses computer technology and hydraulic controls to continually vary intake valve timing, according to engine loads and driving conditions. The result is optimum acceleration with maximum efficiency, regardless of engine revs.
Toyota's unique Safe-T-Cell is a direct result of the Global Outstanding Assessment (GOA) programme. It is designed to help protect the vehicle's occupants by absorbing crash energy, thus minimising the impact on the integrity of the cabin.
