Why not live according to the pleasure principle AND listen to the voice of reason? The bad part about making any decision is that you only end up with half of the deal. It always seems to be a question of “ either / or ”. But it’s different with the A - Class. It only knows about the “ and ” part of the equation, combining aspects which always seemed to be incompatible –a design which appeals to the heart and the head, a compact size with a spacious feel, attractive looks and a practical nature. Plus it’s now available in Coup? and Saloon format. All in all, the A - Class is a car you’ll decide on for reasons of pleasure – because that’s the sensible thing to do.True luxury is choosing not to have it all. Do you need five doors or are three enough ? With the A - Class you have the choice. What you sacrifice in opting for the Coup?, you gain in terms of sportiness and elegance. And the rear passengers certainly don’t suffer, thanks to the EASY - ENTRY system : when the backrests are foldeddown, the front seats slide forward effortlessly. Grow up. Not old. Sparks flew when sophisticated technology met young design. The Saloon positively bristles with energy, thanks for instance to its attractive interior and the high - quality materials used. Take it for a drive, and you’ll be smitten. Compact dimensions, impressive power. The engines have been specially attuned to the car’s sandwich - style structure : despite their compact dimensions these engines are packed with power. The 142 kW ( 193 hp ) top - of - the - line model, the A 200 TURBO, in particular is a force to be reckoned with. The petrol line - up also comprises the A 150 ( 70 kW / 95 hp ) , the A 170 ( 85 kW / 116 hp ) and the A 200 ( 100 kW / 136 hp ) . There are also three diesel models to choose from : the A 160 CDI ( 60 kW / 82 hp ) , the A 180 CDI ( 80 kW / 109 hp ) and the A 200 CDI, whose commanding 103 kW ( 140 hp ) and 300 Nm of torque produce a decidedly impressive power curve. Despite so much power, all the engines are models of modesty when it comes to fuel consumption. The A 150 achieves a combined consumption rate of between 6.2 and 6.7 litres per 100 kilometres 1 , while the A 200 CDI is also impressively economical with a combined rate of between 5.4 and 5.7 litres 1 . The secret is reduced friction losses in the engine, a high compression ratio and improved in - cylinder flow.Model Range:
A 160 CDI
A 180 CDI
A 200 CDI
A 150
A 170
A 200 Turbo
Available in three versions: Classic line, Elegance line and Avantgarde line.
