Sony Aibo ERS-7M2 review
The ERS-7M2 is the latest AIBO®, a newly-developed, highly evolved, comprehensive product offering that provides the greatest degree of autonomous behavior and functionality yet to be achieved by Sony robotic engineers. It is supplied with a full range of accessories that allows for both the joys of raising a robotic pet alternative, as well as the satisfaction of useful functionality. Product enhancement has especially been achieved in the areas of design, visual pattern recognition, organic touch-sensor technology, wireless LAN connectivity, sound quality, and motor/gear noise reduction.
In autonomous mode, the ERS-7M2 walks more fluidly, plays soccer with its Pink Ball, plays with its AIBOne, sits, lies down, rights itself, and even self-charges.
The ERS-7M2 also uses its Illume-Face, tail, ears, lights, and MIDI sounds to express a wide variety of emotions and instincts to entertain you.
The ERS-7M2 also now pays special attention to 3 owners and remembers AIBO's favorite place thanks to new voice and visual recognition technology.
In addition, using your PC and wireless network (IEEE 802.11b) with AIBO Entertainment Player PC based software, you can switch between autonomous and remote control modes and enjoy Navigator, Player, and Scheduler functions.
In Navigator, you can remotely control ERS-7M2 while viewing the world through AIBO's camera. House sitting mode allows you to record normal or time-elapsed video from AIBO while you are away. In Player, AIBO can play your favorite music (audio CD, MP3, WMA, WAV, and internet radio) as a dancing speaker. Powered with Visual Pattern Recognition technology, AIBO can memorize and link any visual pattern to any music or actions. For example, when you show a CD cover, AIBO can play that music wirelessly. In Scheduler, AIBO will be synchronized with your Microsoft Outlook schedule, enabling AIBO to inform you of your appointments.
With the AIBO EYES function, you can wirelessly view pictures AIBO takes and send e-mail commands to have AIBO play pre-recorded messages and songs to others at home.
